Practice Days : Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30pm - 8:45pm
Both boats leave at 7:30PM sharp. Therefore, all paddlers are expected to be in paddling gear before 5 mins of the departing time.
IMPORTANT:On water practice will continue whether it rain or shine, and will only be cancelled at the practice site, at the time the boats leave the dock.
What to bring :Paddle, PFD, Gloves, shoes (paddling/running), Towel (large enough to change clothes), water, light food (if required), for the first few weeks it is important to dress for the cold weather (water resistant jacket, polyester shirts and pants) - but NO cotton clothes (see the training tips page for more information)
Location : Outer Harbour Dragon Boat Club
HDBC is located on Unwin Ave, just south of Lakeshore, in between Cherry St and Leslie St.
By car from the west (downtown Toronto), drive east along Lakeshore Blvd East until you get to the intersection at Cherry St. Turn right, and follow Cherry St down past the second draw bridge. Turn left on Unwin Ave. Follow Unwin Ave towards the large smoke stack, around the twist in the road, and over the channel bridge. OHDBC is in the clearing on the left, with the docks below in the channel.
From the East, drive west along Lakeshore Blvd East until you get to the intersection at Leslie St (Canadian Tire, RBC, etc on the south-west corner). Turn left, and follow Leslie St to the end of the street. Turn right on Unwin Ave, and follow the road until just before the channel bridge. OHDBC is in the clearing on the right, with the docks below in the channel.
Parking is only available on the east side of the site along Unwin Ave. Check out parking map for details on where you can park.
From downtown Toronto, you can take the 72(A) Pape bus all the way to the intersection of Cherry St and Commissioners St. From there, you'll need to walk the rest of the way. Expect about a 30min walk.
Alternately, you can take the subway to Donland station, and board the 68 Jones bus. Take the bus all the way down to Leslie St and Commissioners St, and walk the rest of the way. Expect about a 20min walk.
